April 2023 Visit to Trimontium Museum, Melrose

Following an interesting lecture in January by Dr John Reid, chair of the Trimontium Trust, on the refurbished Trimontium Museum and plans for future archaeological work, it was decided to visit the museum when it reopened in the spring. Several members of our society visited on a wet Saturday in April. After an interesting introductory talk, we looked at the artefacts and the interactive displays and beautifully produced film about the Romans and the surrounding native sites. Spending nearly 2 hours in the museum we then adjourned for a well-deserved coffee and discussed what we had seen. Consensus was that the museum is well worth a visit and that we thoroughly enjoyed it.
